wow, it has been such a long time since I have posted to my blog...ok,well...that's done now. It's history, and what's history cannot be changed. We can only go forward and make changes in our habits. So, I have seen many cards and you tube videos using this technique called the napkin fold card. So, I decided to make one. I was having so much fun that I ended making several different sizes. I will also figure out what size envelopes to make for these as well, but it won't be tonite,(chuckling).  If you want to mail these, you might have to pay a little extra in postage because of its irregular size, but well worth it when the person your sending it to opens it up.  So, lets get started...

I made 3 sizes of the napkin fold card. The sizes are 12x12, 10x10, 9x9. The 8x8 and 6x6 are still to come but should be easy to figure out. You always want a square and one that can be easily divided. I am going to do the basic instructions and then just list the measurement by size.

Supplies: scoring board, scoring tool, a bone folder, wet/dry glue, colored cardstock, coordinating scrapbook paper, ruler, pencil and paper trimmer, and any embellishments. To also assist I have added a video to this so that you can see the card being made. Note: this is not my video, although one day I would like to do videos. Some people are visual.

1. Trim cardstock to desired size (if necessary, and if cutting is required keep your scraps. They can be used later.)
2. Using scor tool, scor 1/4 of the way in from each side, turn cardstock once and repeat. (for ex. - a 12x12 pce of cs will be scored @ 3" and 9", turn once and scor again at 3" and 9"). Using your bone folder burnish folds in both directions.
3. Using the ruler and pencil find the center of your cs and mark it with a dot. this can be covered with paper or erased later. fold each corner towards the center touching the dot, burnishing your fold with the bone folder from the inside out. when done you will see it forms a square envelope.
4. Open. starting with one side, push in large triangles on each side of the corner. this should cause the corner to pop out and fold down. repeat for other 3 corners. it should look like this.  Fold back corner flaps. this should form another triangle.
5. using glue of choice, adhere center piece of cs/dsp to the inside of the card. adhere the 16 small dsp triangle pieces to the small triangle spaces and the 4 large dsp triangles to the 4 large spaces.
6. Adhere  DSP/Neutral color to colored cs for Belly Band leaving 1/8" border on top and bottom, then scor. wrap around card. Use sticky tape to adhere ends. they will overlap.
Embelish as desired, but don't make it too bulky if your going to mail it. Following this are the sizes for each size of card along with the score size for the matching envelope. I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and I will see you next time.

12x12- score @ 3" & 9", center is 6". DSP-  If you want to layer your center piece it is 5 3/4" bottom layer than top layer is 5 1/2", if not just make the center piece 5 3/4" for your greeting. Large triangles - 1 piece of 5 1/2" yields 4, 2 pieces of 5 1/4" yields 16 small triangles. Belly Band - color 2"x12", Neutral/DSP 1 3/4"x12", scored @ 2", 2 1/2", 8 3/4" and 9 1/4". I think I might go a little bigger on the belly band next time but that is up to you. (Note: the Belly Band does not come all the way around. you can either add another piece 2"x6 1/4" or use a embellishment to cover.

10x10 - score @ 2 1/2" & 7 1/2", center is 5". DSP - (2) 4 3/4" (1 for the center and 1 for the large triangles), (2) 4 1/2" for the small; triangles. Belly Band- color 2"x11", neutral/dsp 1 3/4"x11", scored @ 2 3/4", 3", 8" & 8 1/4".

9x9 - score @ 2 1/4" & 6 3/4", center is 4 1/2". DSP- (2) 4 1/4" (1 for the center and 1 for the large triangles), (2) 4" for the small triangles. Belly Band-color 3"x12", neutral 2 3/4"x12", score @ 3 1/4", 3 1/2", 8" & 8 1/4"
